Upholstery - Buttoned Footstool

Join our one day workshop to upholster a footstool with top button detail. Take home a fully upholstered and trimmed item of furniture with covered buttons. Learn how to measure, cut and tension fabric and how to use a variety of upholstery tools. Our experienced tutor Mary Gibson from Diss School of Upholstery will guide you through some of the basic methods in both traditional and modern upholstery. In this particular workshop you will learn the technique of ‘buttoning’ which will add a decorative element to your footstool. You will take home the double point needle used during this exercise for future projects. The hand crafted footstool has been specially designed for makeplace and measures approximately 46cm wide x 30cm deep x 25cm high. The base and legs have been handcrafted from European Beech/Pine wood (subject to availability). The legs will be Queen Anne style / ‘turned’. Please note that you will be required to purchase separately the footstool and material pack from Anglian Furnishing Fabrics. You will visit Anglian Furnishing Fabrics on the day (as part of your course) to choose from a selection of fabrics,trims and buttons and to purchase your ‘pack’. Your pack will contain all the necessary components for your class including webbing, foam, hessian, wadding and your choice of fabric and trim. The pack cost is £79.00 payable on the day. Therefore, the total cost of your day course is £189.00 Maximum class size 5 students. Further details and workshop agenda will be sent after booking.
