The Cocklesmock

Learn to make our variation of the ever-popular and practical fisherman’s/artist’s top- The ‘Cocklesmock’. We have added design features such as underarm inserts and shirt-tail hem as well as a one-piece front pocket with a security feature! This is a class aimed at improvers and experienced sewers only. You will learn the importance of accuracy in top-stitching and construction,cutting- and marking-out and pressing. There should be time to practice techniques before actual construction depending on the class skill levels! We have a selection of ‘try-ons’ to see which size would be best for you to make. These range from chest size (garment) from 41” to 53”. There is about 6-7” ease allowed. This is a unisex design- you might want to make one as a gift! Choose from our suggested fabric selection or use your own.As a guide you will need c.2 mts of 150cms fabric in e.g. a medium weight twill or soft denim. A fabric and notions requirement list will be e-mailed to you on confirmation of booking. Our fantastic JUKI sewing machines and overlockers are available for you to use. Please note that there is not a pattern available to buy for this garment as it is an in-house design. Not suitable for beginners. Last booking date is 1 week before class date. NB - This is a 4 week course, 3 hours each session. If you are unable to attend any session (or part of) it will not be possible to revert to that session's work within later sessions.
