Introduction to Dressmaking

This is a 4 week course designed to help you with choosing patterns and fabric, marking and cutting-out, sewing techniques and then using the knowledge learnt to construct your garment. The course is structured so that you can learn from other students projects as well as your own, meaning you will learn skills and knowledge beyond your own project. The course is intended for beginners or those with a little sewing experience so we ask that you work from a suitable pattern. We recommend that you attend the first lesson before buying a pattern or fabric so we can advise accordingly with reference to skills needed. You might want to consider a fairly simple design at first so you can gain confidence. You will use our fantastic Juki machines so no need to bring your own sewing machine along. Please note this is garment only (no home furnishing projects) Pippa Pease has spent most of her life with a needle in hand! Pippa trained in pattern cutting and dressmaking and has taught privately and for adult education for the last 10 years. She loves to share techniques from basic to more complex dressmaking and loves to watch students blossom and gain confidence. Price is for 4 week course (no refund for non attendance full or part). Cut-off date for booking is 1 week before the course start date. 10% discount for course students at Anglian Fashion Fabrics. Class size limited to 6 students to enable adequate time with the tutor.
